Built Dakota tough and crafted out of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) technology this is a battery built to last. With a lifespan of 2,000 charge cycles this battery will last up to 5 times longer than your typical SLA battery while providing 100% more capacity at 60% less weight. Rated at 7 Ampere Hours (Ah), this is our smallest and lightest battery. Ideal for industrial purposes where you need a long lifespan battery that charges quickly, or for outdoor uses where weight is at a premium.  LiFePO4 charger recommended for optimal performance.

SIZE

2 lbs (0.90 Kg). That's 60% lighter then a SLA battery.

CAPACITY

7 ampere hours. Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 7 amp hours. DL LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized SLA batteries. You get all the juice down to the last drop.

LIFECYCLES (BATTERY LIFESPAN)

Up to 80% capacity for 2,000 cycles in recommended conditions. The typical SLA has 500 cycles. Dakota Lithium batteries last so long that the price per use is a fraction of traditional batteries.

OPERATING TEMPERATURE

Ideal for rugged & harsh environments. Much better than SLA or other lithium’s. -20'F min, +120'F max optimal operating temps (battery performs well down to -20'F). Avoid charging below 32'F.

Standard F2 terminals (6.35mm or 0.25" wide)

DISCHARGE

10 A max continuous, 50 A max 300 mS pulse. 9.0 V max discharge, 11.0 V max recommended discharge. For longest lifetime recommended discharge rate 1-5 Amps. The flat discharge voltage curve provides a 75% bigger capacity than a 7Ah SLA battery.

CHARGE

10 A max, 14 V max recommended, 15 V max. Please note: this battery should be charged using a LiFePO4 compatible charger. A SLA charger may work, but will reduce performance and lifespan of the battery.

INCLUDES ACTIVE BMS PROTECTION

Contains a circuit that handles cell balancing, low voltage cutoff, high voltage cutoff, short circuit protection and high temperature protection for increased performance and longer life.

CERTIFICATIONS

All batteries are UN 38 certified. Dakota Lithium's cells are UL1642 certified and have been tested per IEC62133 standards. Meets all US & International regulations for air, ground, and train transport.

3A LifePO4 Charger INCLUDED

This battery should be charged using a LiFePO4 compatible charger. A SLA charger may work, but will reduce performance and lifespan of the battery. 

DAKOTA LITHIUM 12V 3A LIFEPO4 BATTERY CHARGER 

Dakota Lithium has optimized this charger for use with our lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4). All 12 volt Dakota Lithium batteries should be charged using a LiFePO4 compatible charger like this one. SLA chargers will reduce the performance and lifespan of the battery. This charger charges at a speed of 3 amps an hour and is optimal for batteries < 25Ah.

FOR 12 VOLT LITHIUM BATTERIES

We highly reccomend you use a LiFePO4 compatible charger. 12v chargers for lead acid batteries may work, but will decrease performance and lifespan of the battery.

TERMINAL CONNECTIONS

Alligator clips for ease of use. Clip black to your black terminal. Red to your red terminal. Do not short circuit. Red light on the charger will turn on when charging. Light turns green when the battery is full.

SMART BMS COMMUNICATION

Charger will restart or "wake up" a Dakota Lithium BMS that has turned off a battery due to short circuit or excessive amp draw. Simply connect the charger to the battery to initiate a restart.

HOW FAST WILL MY BATTERY CHARGE?

Choose a 3 amps. To determine your charging speed take the amp hour rating of your battery and divide by the amp rating of your charger. For example, a 3 amp charger would fully charge a 7 amp hour battery (Ah) in 2.3 hours.

CAN I CHARGE MY BATTERY FASTER?

For most applications a charging time of 3 - 10 hours provides the longest lifespan for your battery. But if you have an application where you need rapid charging Dakota Lithium batteries can be safely charged in up to 1 hour (at a rate of 1C). For example, you could use a 10 amp charger with a 10 Ah battery for a 1 hour charge time. Charging at a 1 hour rate does reduce the lifespan over time. In our laboratory testing we found that the longest lifespan for Dakota Lithium batteries was at a charging speed of 0.3C or less (we recommend that the charger amp rating is 1/3 or less of the battery amp hour rating for longest lifespan).

WHAT VOLTAGE SHOULD LIFEPO4 BATTERIES BE CHARGED AT?

14.4 volts is recommended for Dakota Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. This charger charges at 14.4 volts.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 3 AMP AND 10 AMP CHARGER?

The amp rating is how much energy goes into your battery in 1 hr. For example, a 10 amp charger will charge a 54 amp hour battery in 5.4 hours. An appropriate sized charger should be 1/3 of less the amp rating of your battery. For example, a 3 amp charger is perfect for a 10 amp hour (Ah) battery.
